Speed is a continuous function and diffentiable . if f(t) is the speed and t is the time in hours after 2 pm then
f(0) = 50 and f(1/6) = 70
The MVT says that for some value c in [0, 1/6] f'(c) = [f(1/6) - f(0)] / (1/6 - 0) = (70-50) / (1/6) = 120
f'(x) is the acceleration, so at some point the car must accelerate at 120 m/h2

The MVT states that f'(c) = (f(b)-f(a))/(b-a) where the interval is [a,b]. Here a = 0 and b = 1/6 because time is measured in hours after 2.00. 2.10 is 10 minutes after 2.00 which is 1/6 hour. So I just substituted a=0 and b = 1/6 into f(b)-f(a), that's where the f (1/6) comes from10/19/20
