273 students enrolled in a freshman level chemistry class. By the end of the semester, 6 times the number of students passed as failed. Find the number of students who passed, and the number of students who failed.

Let x is number of students falled.

Then 6x is number of students passed. So, 6x + x = 273; 7x = 273, x = 39

Answer: 39 students falled, 273 - 39 = 234 students passed
