The probability of getting a tail on a coin flip is 1/2 - there are two possible outcomes (heads and tails) but only 1 outcome is a tail.
The probability of rolling a number greater than 5 on an 8 sided die is 3/8 - there are 8 possible outcomes, but only 3 are greater than 5 (6, 7, and 8).
Since the problem asked for the probability of doing both, and these are independent events, you would multiply the two probabilities
P(tail ∩ rolling > 5) = P (tail) * P(rolling > 5) = 1/2 * 3/8 = 3/16
