A) what is the horizontal acceleration of the block?

B) If the block starts from rest, what is will its velocity be after 3.0 s?

C) How far will it travel in these 3.0 s?

a) The net force in the direction of motion will be 28 - 6 = 22 N

F = ma, so a = F/m = 22 / 8 m/s/s

(b) a = (22/8) m/s/s

v = u + at, u = 0, a = 22/8, t = 3, so you can find v

(c) s = ut + 0.5 a t²

u = 0, t = 2, a = (22/8) so you can find s
