Your question
Why is understanding phonics important?
is answered comprehensively in the text beneath is which reads
Phonics form the building blocks for reading and writing. With effective phonics instruction, children will learn to decode letters into sounds. Decoding is an essential skill for learning to read unfamiliar words independently. Understanding the relationship between letters and sounds allows students to make connections between spoken language and words in text.
I don't think that I would(or could) add more to that to improve it. If you're asking for someone to explain that particular answer to you in different terms, I would be more than happy to assist you. Just send me a message and I'll help you out as best as I'm able.
