What is the best way to improve my speaking and listening skills?

I've been learning by myself for a few years now with an app or online resource but I want to be fluent in speaking Japanese. What would be the best way to improve my speaking and listening skills?

Listen, listen, listen. The more you listen, the easier it is to parse out certain words. If you can find subtitles to things yoh like to watch, you should learn words from that using flashcards to get the repetition in. Most words are going to be common across all Japanese, even sci-fi advanced terminology isn't the main vocab in those genres. I've found that I'll learn some words from an episode and hear them constantly in other shows as well and can know phrases or whole paragraphs of what is said! As someone who started learning Japanese without access to a native speaker, I found that listening and watching Japanese media is a good way to build up a familiarity with native ways of speaking. Listening to music, Jpop, podcasts, Jdramas, reality shows, news broadcasts, and anime are all great ways of improving listening skills and learning about Japanese society and culture when you are unable to converse with friends from Japan or native speakers.

For speaking, talking with a native speaker or Japanese tutor is the best way to practice conversational Japanese. But without this resource, I would strongly recommend online resources like rosetta stone or practicing public speaking while reading out loud in Japanese.

I think the best way of learning language is find a friend from the country who uses the language. And off course, you need a friend/teacher to correct your speaking. I use app to learn another language but it's easy to forget what I just learned. Watching Japanese dramas, mangas, and TV shows in Japanese through YouTube also helps you. And learning a reading, and a writing are very important to learn speaking.

One of the best way to improve your speaking and listening skills is to practice with a native Japanese speaker consistently. Preferably at least 1-2 times a week. You can choose a topic or have a free conversation. Watching movies and anime are also a great way to improve your listening skills however it won't be as effective as having a real conversation.
