Disjoint events cannot happen at the same time. In other words, they are mutually exclusive.
(a) Find P(E ᴜ F) = P(E) + P(F) - P(E ∩ F) { For disjoint events P(E ∩ F) = 0 }
Hence, P(E) + P(F) - 0.
P(E) + P(F) => 0.2 + 0.3 = 0.5
(b) Find P(E ∩ F) = 0
Hope this helps! i am available to clarify any sort of doubts!
