3x2+12x+36 = -66
First we want to set the equation equal to zero. To do this, we add 66 on both sides of equation.
3x2+6x+102 = 0
Next we factor. 3, 6, and 102 are all multiples of 3 so we can use a GCF of 3.
3(x2+2x+34)=0
Next, use the quadratic formula
x = (-b±sqrt(-b2-4ac))/(2a)
where a=1 , b=2 , c=34
