You need to figure out how many ways you can pick two sandwiches and then how many ways you can pick a ham and a turkey.

 

How many ways can you pick two sandwiches

 

16 * 15    (because you have 16 choices on the first pick and then 15 choices on the second pick

 

now how many ways can you pick a ham and a turkey?

 

4 * 12   (pick a ham and then a turkey

 

or

 

12 * 4 (pick a turkey and then a ham

 

 

so

 

the probability of picking ham and turkey is

 

(48 + 48)/16 * 15

 

96/(16 * 15)

 

6/15

 

2/5 = 40%
