Jaiye is now Y years old.
(A.) Three years ago, she was three years younger, so subtraction. We get Y-3 years old, three years ago.
(B.) Four years later, she is four years older, so addition. We get Y+4 years old, four years later.
(C.) Half of three years ago is equal to One-Third of four years from now. 1/2 * (Y-3) = 1/3 * (Y+4)
If we solve this out, we get 3 * (Y-3) = 2 * (Y-4). This solves to 3Y - 9 = 2Y - 8.
We subtract 2Y from both sides: Y-9 = -8
We add 9 to both sides: Y=1.
So, Jaiye is now 1 year old.
