There are 6 possible outcome for each dice, and since the outcome of each dice is independent it will be 1/36.

Let's suppose the animals are Alligator, Bear, Cat, Dog, Elephant, and Fox. If the question what is the probability that both dice will be the same of a specified animal (both are alligator, for example) then the probability is one out of six for the first dice, and one out of six for the second dice. Since this is an "And" type of probability (both outcomes must occur), then the two probabilities are multiplied. That gives 1/6 x 1/6 = 1/36 for the overall probability. If the question is what is the probability that the two dice will be the same of ANY kind of animal, then the probability of each individual animal can be added. There are six animals, and each one individually has a 1/36 probability, so adding them all together gives 1/6. Alternatively, since all the animals have the same probabilkity in this case, you could multiply the individual probability (1/36) by the total number of animals (6). That gives 1/36 x 6 = 6/36 = 1/6 for the probability that the two dice will show the same of any of the six animals. Hope this helps.03/29/20
