1. The "or" means either outcome is favorable. Total number of females is 47 * . So, 47/82. Since we have already counted the females working 40+ hours, just add in the MALES working 40+ hours (6 males working 40+ hours) to get (47 Females + 6 males who are 40+ hours are favorable outcomes) 53 possible FAVORABLE outcomes out of 82 POSSIBILITIES.
