To solve 4(x-2)^2 = 16
divide each side by 4 to have (x-2)^2 = 4
take the square root of both sides
x-2 = -2 or x-2 = 2
add 2 to each side
x = 0 or x = 4
substitute back in for checking if the squaring gave false answers:
4 ( 0-2)^2 = 16
4 (-2)^2 = 16
4 (4) = 16 true
4 ( 4-2)^2 = 16
4 (2)^2 = 16
4 (4) = 16 true.
the values for x are 0 and 4.
