I have tutored for three years in math and chemistry. In math I have tutored from 1st grade through Precalculus including Algebra 1 & 2, and Geometry. In chemistry, I have tutored students in all types of curriculum including regular, AP, IB, and CP high school courses and freshman in college. I have helped high school students past the CASHEE. I have helped adults pass the GED and learn needed math skills for careers in construction. I have worked with students who have learning disabilities and English language learners. Presently during the day I work as a tutor for two independent study high schools and and in the afternoon and evenings for several agencies as a math and science tutor.
I tutor by following either the students' curriculum or by using books and internet websites as a guides. I tutor by explaining the concepts in relationships to prior learned concepts through step-by-step procedures. I work through example problems and watch while giving hints as the student works through homework problems. I write down notes for the student to take home with example problems.
I have gained extensive knowledge in math and chemistry. I earned a BS and MS from Georgia Tech in chemistry fields and have taken review courses in Algebra 2 and Precalculus recently. I have taken courses for a high school chemistry teaching credential but when I started student teaching I found that the large classroom did not fit my style. I have worked for over 26 years as a chemist in private industry laboratories.

Rebecca is an amazing tutor, she has helped me so much. I am currently a community college student but I am preparing to transfer to UC Davis. The transfer program requires students to complete various general education courses for their application to be accepted. I have completed nearly all of the requirements, except the math requirement. I had difficulty with math since childhood and I struggled to pass high school algebra with a C, so I naturally resisted taking math courses in college. In order to transfer, I must pass college algebra, so in August I took the college math assessment placement test and was very depressed when I placed into pre-algebra. My placement in pre-algebra meant I had to take four math courses to fulfill the math course requirement. I would have needed to take pre-algebra, then elementary algebra, then intermediate algebra, and finally college algebra to fulfill the math requirement. Additionally, each math class takes a full semester, I would have needed four semesters for math, so I would not have been able to complete the transfer requirements by the application deadline. In order to meet the UC Davis transfer application deadline, the lowest course I could place into is Intermediate Algebra. This meant I needed to retake the assessment test before registration for the next semester and place into a higher level math course. I knew I would need a lot of help to improve my placement level, so I began searching for a tutor. Rebecca is the most amazing tutor I have ever had! She explains mathematical concepts so that they are easy to understand and memorize. After only a few months of being tutored by Rebecca, I retook the test and this time I placed into intermediate algebra! Instead of taking four math courses, I now only need to take two. Rebecca makes learning math enjoyable and has greatly expanded my knowledge on the subject. If you are looking for a great tutor, contact Rebecca :-)Marissa, 49 lessons with Rebecca
Rebecca was great with my son. After she left, I spoke with my son and he stated she explained everything in detail. So, I decided to have her also help my daughter. I wish she had more time so that I can extend it to two days a week. I greatly appreciate her hard work. Thank you, Rebecca!Amrik, 8 lessons with Rebecca
Knock Out That "A" Grade in High School AP Chemistry
Rebecca is great! I would like to write this recommendation letter thanking Rebecca for helping me achieve a better grade in AP High School Chemistry. Not only did I achieve a better grade, but I understand and enjoy the subject so much more now. I highly recommend her as an AP Chemistry tutor. She has helped me to gain more confidence and “knock out” that “A” grade on the chemistry test, that which I deserve. Rebecca took great effort to drive out to our location and accommodate our appointment time when other tutors were less responsive. She explains things clearly and helped me work through many different types of chemistry problems. Thank you so much.Hanna, 1 lesson with Rebecca
Very patient tutor
Rebecca was very accommodating to our schedule and enthusiastic about teaching. She was always ready to go back over a concept multiple times to make sure it was understood.Vanessa, 1 lesson with Rebecca
