So, my freshman algebra teacher taught us that we move the decimal 2 places, and the direction depends on whether the monster is there.
The percent sign is the crooked eyes of an angry monster we want to run away from. When it's gone, it's safe to move that direction.
2% = 0.02
.005 = 0.5%
135% = 1.35
1.35(100) = your answer
Tip: when multiplying by multiples of 10, you move the decimal right by the number of zeroes.
5(10) = 50
0.6(1000) = 600
When dividing by multiples of 10, we do the opposite.
7/100 = 0.07
7005/10 = 700.5
