asked 12/09/19Find the average value of f(x)=x^3 on [-1,1]
I understand that this is the formula 1/(b-a)∫ f(x) dx but im having trouble plugging in the values correctly. Any light on the subject would be much appreciated!

Average value = (1 / [1-(-1)]) ∫(-1 to 1) x3dx
= (1/2)[(1/4)x4(from -1 to 1)
= (1/8)[(1)4 - (-1)4] = 0
Graph x3.
From the graph you should see the answer immediately.
