Let t be the number of years so we can form a linear equation with that since the salary is increasing at a constant rate of $200:
A linear equation can always be written in the form of y = mt + b where m is the rate it is increasing / decreasing at and b is the starting value. So, our m is 200 and b is 6000 and we can write the equation like this:
y = 200t + 6000
Now, in order to find the salary after 2 year, we can simply plug in 2 for t into our equation since t stands for the time in years:
y = 200(2) + 6000
y = 400 + 6000
y = 6400
Therefore, the salary after 2 years will be $6400.
