Understanding Graphing Transformations

I can not understand how to graph equations using the transformation properties of a graph. I have been trying to get it to line up on the MyMathLab program and keep getting a wrong answer.

How do you graph an equation such as f(x)=2^x+4 or f(x)=-3-e^-x/2? What does ''base" mean on the graphing tool? What is the number to put in when the box says "e" for the base?
