If one has difficulty taking the derivative using chain rule, then to make it easier, foil out the function that's given first. Once that's done, then taking the derivative should be simple since you're only using the power rule. After you take the derivative, evaluate it at the x-value that's given in the problem (this will give you the slope for your tangent line). Now that you have the slope, and the coordinate point that's given, you can use point slope form to get the tangent line.
