If you are simply solving for X.....

-20 = -4x-6x ....add like terms

-20 = -10x ....divide both sides by -10

2 = x......or x = 2

check... -20 = -4 (2) - 6 (2) = - 8 - 12 = - 20.....confirmed.... :-)

Another way is to multiply both sides of the equation by -1...thus....

20 = 4x + 6x

20 = 10x ....x = 2...
