OK, thanks for your clarification.
Even and odd functions play a role in Fourier analysis which has many applications: heat, electricity, harmonics, to name a few.
Other than that I can't think of any "real life applications, but I would suggest that you might discuss this with students studying engineering and/or physics. However, such functions do help to understand definite integrals...and probably other mathematical ideas of which I am not aware.
