Solve the equation 3x 6y = 1 for y to determine its slope. y = (1/2)x - (1/6). Slope is 1/2.
The line perpendicular to that line has a slope of -2 (negative or opposite reciprocal). Now you are ready to use point-slope (you can also use slope-intercept form to solve for b).
y - (-2/7) = -2 (x - (1/2)).
y + (2/7) = -2x +1
y = -2x + (5/7)
Try using the Desmos online graphing calculator to graph both equations to confirm.
