This is a tricky question, but one might say the sieges of Ruby Ridge (1992) and the Davidian compound in Waco (1993) could be examples of this. In both cases, armed Americans attempted to fight off government forces to (from their point of view) defend their liberties from the government. Whether or not the second amendment actually protected people's freedom in this case, though, is suspect.
