If Mendy randomly chooses (not paying attention) what is the Probability that she does NOT choose a mint.
So we're trying to find P (not mint).
P (not mint) = # of not mint items
total # of items
P (not mint) = 4
12
P (not mint) = 1/3 or 33.333%
Check it!
To make sure that makes sense, we can find the Probability she DOES find a mint,
which would be = # of mints 8 = 2 = 66.67%
total # of items 12 3
Since there only mints and NOT mints in the bag, the sum of these probabilities MUST equal 1. Do they?
Great job!
