Co-sleeping is never recommended for the safety of the baby. There have been many incidences nationwide where a baby was suffocated due to the parent rolling on them, causing for the baby to not be able to breathe. If long enough, this could lead to hypoxia, causing brain damage (which could be permanent). This then will impact the baby's health and development. It could cause them to have some type of developmental delay/neurological disorder. The baby may also be suffocated by the pillows/blankets, or fall off the bed.
And worst case scenario, the suffocation/injury could lead to death. This is why babies are recommended to sleep in the crib alone, supine, and without a bunch of other things in the crib (pillows, excessive blankets, diapers/supplies, toys, etc).
