There are 10 letters in SUMMERTIME, there are three M's in SUMMERTIME. So the probability of selecting M the first time will be 3/10, because 3 of the 10 letters are M's. Without returning that M, trying to get another M, you will be left with 9 letters and only a chance at getting either of the two M's that are left in the word; so the probability of getting a M the second time is 2/9. If the letter selected was not a M, then the second probability will be 3/9 because there are still 3 Ms in the word just once less letter.
Answer: (3/10), (2/9) if the first letter selected was a M or (3/10), (3/9) if the first letter selected was not a M.
