Generally speaking, pirated and counterfeit goods are the same except that pirated goods are unauthorized reproductions of copyrighted material whereas counterfeit goods are unauthorized reproductions of non-copyrighted items. Pirated goods are counterfeit, but counterfeit goods are not always pirated. Contraband is any item or article that is illegal to possess, transport, import, or export. Contraband involves the process of movement of the illegal item, which may or may not be pirated or counterfeit.
So,
Contraband are items or goods that are being moved, imported or exported.
Counterfeit goods are items or goods that are unauthorized duplications of the originals.
Pirated goods are unauthorized duplication of copyrighted material (think: movies, songs, albums, etc).
