Arthur, I'm confused on your method. Did you use (y2-y1)/(x2-x1) for the second slope or (y1-y2)/(x1-x2) for the slope of the second line?

Allen,  I used (y1-y2)/(x1-x2) but it doesn't matter. You just have to be consistent. If you start with the y value of a point, you must start with the x value of the same point. For example:
(6,2) and (5,7)
slope=(7-2)/(5-6)=5/-1=-5
slope=(2-7)/(6-5)=-5/1=-5

(4,3), (8,6)
slope=(3-6)/(4-8)=-3/-4=3/4
slope=(6-3)/(8-4)=3/4
