C## Harmonic Minor Scale? What a monstrous idea. Well, let's recall that the harmonic minor scale is used in two situations: ascending and descending. The ascending harmonic scale includes a true Leading Tone, which has to be a half step below the tonic. So B## would be called for. The descending form of this scale lowers the 7th tone, so B# would be used in that case.
Correct Notes for C## in Harmonic Minor Scale?
Is the following scale correct for C## Harmonic Minor?
C##, D##, E#, F##, G##, A#, B#
I read on a good music theory page and they had B## as 7th note in the key, so I was wondering, but I'm pretty sure mine is correct with B#.
