If events E and F are mutually exclusive then P(E Ι F) = 0.
This is because the definition of mutually exclusive events means that P (E ∩ F) = 0, in other words the two events cannot happen at the same time so there is no intersection.
Since P(E Ι F) = P (E ∩ F) / P(F) and the numerator is zero, so is the final probability.
