Why study linear algebra?

Simply as the title says. I've done some research, but still haven't arrived at an answer I am satisfied with. I know the answer varies in different fields, but in general, why would someone study linear algebra?

Because linear models are the first approach to all situations in real life. For example, the linearization of a surface is a plane (e.g, a linear model), and on. You should study linear algebra as a tool to get a first approach to situations, that in general are not linear.
