Wavetable Synthesis originated in the 80's. Its primary function is using numerous wavetables some bleneded together in frames to create a vast array of sounds and timbres. Modern Digital Wavetable Synthesis was revolutionized by Massive by Native Instruments and Serum by Xfer Records. It is the back bone of sound design in "Bass" music such as Dubstep, Riddim, Hybrid Trap and other genres.
