Can you train yourself to read an audio file instead of listening to it?

No. The variable sized vertical lines you see when looking at waveform audio file only show amplitude; not pitch, frequencies, or timbre. AT best, you can get a sense of where a break or lower dynamic part is of a song but not what it would actually sound like.
