Knowing FA synthesis?
What is the depth we should know the reaction mechanism? Should we know it as detailed as we should know beta oxidation? Or key steps, etc...

For most of the biochemical and metabolic pathways I would know the key regulatory steps and how the upregulation of a certain reactants can affect the flux of that pathway. Ex: Increase of ATP and NADH will slow the TCA cycle.
