Auto-tune is a technique used by professional mixing engineers across genres of popular music. However, there are a few different styles of autotune. Using autotune as an overt effect on a vocal track, what has become known as the "T-Pain Effect", is most common in genres such as hip-hop and R&B music (Travis Scott, for example). In genres like pop, rock, or country music, autotune is mostly used to correct pitch without creating a noticeable autotune artifact. This is done by reducing the "strength" of the auto-tune, and increasing the pitch flexibility on the vocal track to prevent the tool from sounding so obvious and overt.
