If you factor the area expression, you will see that what each side is for the square
9z2-12z+4 = (3z-2)(3z-2)
This means that one side of the square is (3x-2). To find the perimeter, you have 4 sides that are the same length.
4(3z-2) = 12z-8 if you use the distributive property.
12z-8 is the perimeter
Another method could be add all 4 of the sides together. This would be
(3z-2)+(3z-2)+(3z-2)+(3z-2) = 12z-8 (You get the same answer regardless of method)
