Hi Mary! the first number, 2, is a whole number. the last 2 numbers, 8/10, are a fraction of a whole number.
2 8/10 = 2 + (8/10)
So you add the fraction to the whole number to solve this.
This number can also be expressed using a decimal. It is 2.8 when using a decimal. The number after the decimal is a number that is divided by 10.
