How would you handle the situation?

You are in the exam room with Mrs.Grace Winthrop assessing her vital signs. as you take her blood pressure, she starts to complain of chest pain and numbness in her arms. Her blood pressure reading is at 260/200 mmhg. as you are putting away your sphygmomanometer, she complains that the pain has now traveled down to her left arm and she feels that she may be having a heart attack.

I would first place her on oxygen at least 2L nasal cannula. This would help perfuse the area of cardiac injury if indeed she was having an cardiac event. I would inform the MD of her chest pain. Make sure she has I V access. Initiate MONA, Morphine, Oxygen, Nitroglycerin and Aspirin. The MD will prob order a chest xray and she needs a 12l ead EKG.I would follow thru any orders that addressed her hypertension.
