y = 3x - 7 ...Eq 2
6x - 2y = 12 , solve for y , -2y = 12 -6x, 2y = -12 + 6x, divide both sides by 2, y = -6 + 3x rearrange
y = 3x - 6 ... Eq 2
Both equations are of the form y = mx+b where m is the slope and the slope on both equations 1 and 2 is the same m =3, these are two straight lines that are parallel to each other and do not meet or intersect , and therefore has no common point and no solution. To prove this substitute eq 1 in eq 2
6x - 2( 3x-7) = 12, expand and you get 6x - 6x + 14 = 12 , this become 0+14 = 12 impossible!!
