For you to switch from automation to devops, it will be interesting to first write a list of all of the reasons you are passionate about being a developer. Then write a list of all experiences , achievements, likes, and dislikes of both, your background as a developer, and your background in automation. That will give you a base for you to do comparisons, analysis, and key points to consider when creating your reasoning behind the strategy that you want to implement to justify the change in an interview process.
Second, you might be interested in looking for positions where you can apply both, your experience in automation and in devops.
Third, dream big! Your experience should trigger positions where your expertise and consulting might be appreciated. Even a leadership position that includes the 2 areas would benefit you, and others.
You never jnow where your knowledge combined with the two backgrounds might lead you to.
