526 (100th %ile) on MCAT; Perfect Scores on Bio/Biochem and Psych/Soc
There is a figure in my AAMC book (which I don't currently have with me) that shows the results of a survey that asked med school admissions officers to categorize various factors as high, medium, or low importance in admissions. MCAT and GPA are the 2 most important factors and no amount of extracurriculars will overcome poor scores and GPA. That being said, volunteering is crucial to showing med schools that you are committed to service, which is very important to them.
So, if you are to rank them, then yes, MCAT is more important. But both are important to admissions officers.
