Write the total cost, C, as a function of the number of the bicycles produced, x. Then, find C(40). find the cost function.

The total cost in terms of the number of bicycles produced, which we'll call x, would be C(x)=8000+800x.  To calculate the cost to produce 40 bicycles, we would plug in 40 for x.  C(40)=8000+800(40)=$40,000
