Find the slope off the line that contains the points (2, 7) and (6, -3) and name another point on the same line.

slope of line:        ( y₂ - y₁)/(x₂ - x₁₎

 

(2, 7) and (6, -3)

 

(-3 - 7)/(6 - 2) ---> -10/4--->-5/2

 

so slope is -5/2

 

Δx = 2, Δy = -5

 

another point is (2 + Δx, 7 + Δy) or (2 + 2, 7 - 5) ---> (4, 2)
