In gas chromatography, what is the effect on retention time if the volume of the stationary phase in the column increased? I am thinking the retention time would increase because there would be more interaction. Thoughts?

Yes, that should be true. Having a longer column will allow for more separation between your elutions. Also note that this would be true of all chromatography, not just gas.
