(5x + y)/a = 2                    Given

a*(5x + y)/a = a*2             Multiply each side by a

5x + y = 2a                        Simplify

(5x + y)/2 = 2a/2                Divide each side by 2

(5x + y)/2 = a                     Simplify

a = (5x + y)/2                     Symmetric Property
