1a. Write down an equation for V in the terms of t.

1b. If the tank can hold 2000L, after how many minutes will the tank start to overflow?

1c. Find the volume of water in the tank after 30 minutes.

If V is in Liters and t is in minutes, then V = 150 + 50t

Note that at time t=0 (or at the start), V would be 150 + 50*0 or 150 and every minute there would be an additional 50L added, so that equation matches the word problem.

For part 1b, let V be 2000 and solve for t:

2000 = 150 + 50t

2000 - 150 = 50t

1850 = 50t

1850/50 = t = 37 minutes

For part 1c, let t = 30 and solve for V:

V =150 + 50*30

V = 150 + 1500

V = 1650 L
