(1/4, -1/2) and (3/4, 1)
are 2 points on a straight line with slope = (1+1/2)/(3/4 -1/4) = (3/2)/(1/2) = 3
slope = change in y divided by change in x = (y2-y1)/(x2-x1)
the line's equation is
y -1 = 3(x-3/4) in point slope form (you can use either point. y-y1 = m(x-x1))
y= 3x -9/4 +1
y = 3x -5/4
4y = 12x -5
12x -4y = 5 in standard form (ax +by = c)
or
12x -4y -5 = 0 in general form
or
y = 3x + b where b = y intercept. plug in either point to solve for b
1 = 3(3/4) +b
b = 1-9/4 = -5/4
y = 3x -5/4 in slope intercept form
