at 1:00 pm ,the boat on a river passes a point that is 3 miles from a lodge. At 5:30, the boat passes a point that is 8 miles from the lodge. Graph the line that represents the boat's distance from the lodge. Find and intercept the slope of the line

Let the distance of boad fromlodge be D miles and T be the time in hrs after 1 pm.

 

D = 3 + (5/4.5) T 

 

find various valued of D by varying T from say 0 to 10 hrs

 

Plot the graph with D on y axis and T on x axis

 

above equation is similar to standard line equation

 

y = mx + b where m is slope and b is y intercept

 

D = 5/4.5T  + 3

 

slope = 5/4.5 and y intercept = 3
