A card is drawn from a well-shuffeled deck of 52 cards. Find the probability that the card is a black card or a 8.

There are two suits of black, so 13+13 = 26. OR an 8 means that we have to include the two red 8s, giving us 28.

Simplified:

7/13

7 out of thirteen, or about 53.8%

I'm pretty sure the answer to this question would be as follows;

 

since it's an "or" you will add both the probabilities, so to draw a black card it would be 13/52 plus the chance to draw an 8 which is 1/52, so 13/52+8/52 = 0.16

 

Is that the right answer?
