I love math, and I love to teach it.
Dear Donna,
Now you have Tan A = .6471, but you need to find the angle measure of ∠A
Use a graphing calculator or one that does trig. functions. Find the inverse function for the tan A, which is tan -1
(.6471)= 32.9069º. On a graphing calculator press the 2nd button in blue and then look for tan -1 under the tan A
bottom.
Now you have the missing Angle A. Substitute the degrees for Angle A into Sin A. Sin 32.9069≈.54327 Answer
Note: It might be interesting to draw the triangle. We have one right angle, one acute of 32.9069, and one third
angle of 180-32.9069=______________ measure of third angle. Both angles are acute as stated in story problem.
I hope that this work helps you.
Thank you,
Susan C.
